Mt Misen (Miyajima Island)
This is a beautiful hike on Miyajima Island! Walk toward the ropeway and you’ll see signs for the hiking trail. Before you get to the ropeway there is a split off for the trail, it’s pretty well marked.
Skill Level: Easy
Terrain: Paved/steps/dirt
Length: Approximately 2-3 miles round trip
Time: 2-2.5 hours
What to Bring: water, hat
Kobe Nunobiki Herb Garden and Waterfall
This is super easy and beautiful! Not really a full on hike, but it could be if you walked up instead of down from the ropeway. Easiest way to do this is to take the ropeway to the top and hike down passing the falls on the way! The map guides you from the end (bottom) of the gardens to the waterfall.
Skill Level: Easy
Terrain: Mostly paved
Length: 1-2 miles downhill
Time: 1 to 3 hours dependent on the amount of time spent in the gardens

Mt Fuji: Fujinomiya Trail
This is a hike that takes some planning. Make sure to have a hut lined up for the night as well as all the gear you intend to bring. It can be rainy here and then it gets a bit cold. The terrain can also be a bit slippery, it’s quite a journey!
Skill Limit: Moderate to Advanced, you need to know your limits and how to pace yourself, be in good shape, etc
Terrain: Slippery volcanic rock/volcanic rocks/rocky
Length: 6-7 miles round trip
Time: 8-12 hours
What to Bring: water (it is for purchase along the way), climbing gloves, hiking boots with good grip, a hiking stick, jacket, pants, rain jacket, hand warmers, food (you can buy breakfast and dinner at the huts), water, camera
